Highway to Heaven: Road Trip after lockdown.
In October 2020 we planned to drove more than 3000Km across three states all the way via Mumbai - MP - UP (Ayodhya) home town. We decided to ditch the flight mode this time and take the more adventurous option. #TheRoadTrip
Maharashtra roads were in extremely bad condition, several stretches were miserably pothole-ridden with bad bumpy roads, genuinely nightmarish to some extend; tough time running on highways after crossing Mumbai. The only reason we made thousands of kilometer journeys on time because of MP & UP smooth empty highways; the moment we hit MP the roads were perfect; smooth surface gives a more comfortable journey experience. Doubtlessly MP & UP Roads were way better than Maharashtra and was quite surprised also the toll charges were way cheaper comparatively.
As we planned for our first long journey after the lockdown was lifted, we were pretty much scared and excited too. All prep up for twist, happenings & uncertainty. As we started our journey everything went smoothly but the only time we were stopped and questioned was at the UP border to check for Alcohol and log details of car and destination nothing much. The food court was our savior, washrooms were pretty much clean and all the hygiene was well maintained by the management effectively by following basic protocols temperature checks, hand sanitization, and wearing masks throughout the visit.
Petrol Pumps were easily available within 5km. Yes, the only headache was the toll booth; we had no idea about the FASTag account before going on board for this road trip. There is a dedicated FASTag lane at every toll booth but only one single lane provided for collecting cash; due to this, we wasted a good half n hour’s time at the end number of toll booths. Anyhow, we managed to reach home safely without much hustle.
Finally, we were in heaven now free from the bustle of city life; an open farm with beautiful landscapes were our everyday scenes to chill around.
Once a day leisurely walk along the periphery of the Paddy field witnessing the aesthetic beauty of crops to Mango farm and plucking fresh organic vegetables & fruits by our own; we did it all.
Didn’t realized when fresh milk, curd & Makhan became part of our daily diet without any guilt. A simple homemade “Maa ke hath ka Khana” the most comforting and delicious “Dal-Chawal” that you can never get enough of.
Huge open terrace to witness early morning sunrise; struck with the warmth of early morning view brightens your day; hundreds of peacock embracing your farms that roam around as if they own the place.
Sipping evening tea with a beautiful sunset view far away from the madding crowd indeed good times. Nightlife under the open sky watching clear gazing stars and experiencing the cold breeze while playing with “Jugnu” providing the breathtaking view. Those late-night munching, chitchats, gossips, and never-ending siblings love we had it all. I am short of words and overwhelmed with emotions while penning this down and recalling the journey again.
We didn’t realize when that fifteen day’s journey came to an end and need to rush back to our “Karmabhumi” back to business.
Needless to say this Journey from square feet to acres with the right person, we had the best time of the year; making memories that will stay with us forever.
