15 Days Mumbai to Leh Ladakh-Road Trip

 An astonishing road trip to Leh Ladakh in India. I'll try to cover every aspect – logbook, accommodation, pad, driving – of planning a memorable Ladakh road trip.

Ladakh is a land with rich culture and deep Buddhist history. Monks and hermitages form a large part of its identity and are a great influence on the community. As we make our way to Leh Ladakh, serried meadows, apple manors, and bounties of nature give way to beautiful terrains cheer up by the shining sun. The endless barren trails of mountains dot the terrain and that’s when you know you’ve arrived in one of the most spectacular places on the Earth!!

A road trip to Ladakh isn't a child's play-it's feat stuff of dreams. The harsh climate scrapes, the off-roading, landslides, zero network connectivity, and mountain sickness on this no man’s land with limited food to survive are some of the challenges one has to be prepared for. But yes if you're an adventure geek either one must endure this surreal experience once on a date. Ladakh which is also known as the land of high passes is a desolate region yet the most bewitching realm on earth. The calmness of this place, its azure blue skies, fascinating bright rainbows with the combination of flashing lakes and dales are simply pure magic.

We boast this road trip with some iconic climaxes analogous as the loftiest motorable road in the world Khardung La Top, loftiest mountain passes in the world analogous as Zoji La, Chang La, Baralacha La, and Tanglang La Pass. Crossed splendid scenic drives in remote regions like Tur-Tuk, Gilgit- Baltistan, Galwan and also visited LOC ( Line Of Control). We also made it to some little specified gems like the Nubra Valley, Shyok River, Kaleidoscopic More Plains, Pangong Tso, and the narcotic Gata Loops. It's truly a road trip like no other!!

The overview of the route we stick to over 2 weeks. We drove from Mumbai to Leh via Manali. We drove back from Leh City to Mumbai via Srinagar and Amritsar.

 Roads

Paraphernalia one must keep in mind before embarking on this road trip. This genius- drive road trip is only for masterful motorists who are masters at driving on the hills. There are horrific wavering roads, bumpy stretches, dodgy crooks, and unsurfaced mountain passes back to back. But if you delight driving and are fond of road peregrinations, nothing goes better than this.

 Food

 Try to stock up your water in advance every single day and also long-lasting snacks including dried fruits, nuts, and honey before the road trip. Notwithstanding there's no need to overstock as fresh and hot food will be available with topmost options. There are hundreds of dhabas ( eatery shacks) along the way having both veg and non-veg options till Manali. And once you begin to inch this to Leh, you'll start noticing the limited restaurants and dhabas around. A table at a roadside shanty will supply Momos, Chowmein, Thukpa, Maggi, and omelet bread with hot tea or coffee. There are also truly exquisite grills but can be seen in the bigger towns you’ll hit during this road trip.

 Accommodation

There are multiple staying options available as per your preference; lodges, resorts, homestays, and camping in the area are also accessible. All staying options are noncasual and good to go with, apartments are clean and hospitality is marvelously managed by the locals. Waking up to every view during our each stays made us feverish about the lookouts that lay ahead.
